About UMEI Christian High School

Mission Statement

Anchored in the Anabaptist tradition, UMEI Christian High School exists to educate the whole person, cultivating full academic, spiritual and individual potential, in order to make young people “doers of the word” in the community.

UMEI offers an innovative 4-year program geared towards students interested in math, science, and technology. This program strives to engage enthusiastic learners, emphasizing robotics. The hands-on style works to engage students, promoting critical thinking, logical interpretation, and advancement of practical skills needed to pursue careers in automation, manufacturing, technology, skilled trades, and engieneering.

FIRST Robotics is a competitive and challenging opportunity for students to get creative and put their minds together to do something amazing. Each year a new challenge is released worldwide and students all around the world are working to design their best robot to complete the same challenges. At UMEI, any student has the opportunity to join the team and contribute their own ideas and expertise whether it be programing, building, finance, business skills, or public relations. There is a way for every student to get involved, all are included and can contribute their ideas. UMEI is going into its second year competing after a brief break during the pandemic, and we are all so excited and cannot wait to participate.

“No matter what happens in the end, it is the skills and opportunities brought forward that are what really makes the difference. When all is said and done the change made is the knowledge and experience gained.”

Looking back at my past 3 years of high school I saw what I had really enjoyed and what skills I had built. At UMEI I was able to explore and build on my skills with the help of my teachers. I thrived in both art and communications technology class but after finishing these classes I didn’t want my learning to end there. I was approached at the beginning of my grade 12 year to join the UMEI FIRST Robotics team. Looking for a new challenge I decided to take this new opportunity and see where it could take me. It was an immediate buckle down feeling for me and I was knee deep in creating, designing and learning. When I first committed to the team, I had no idea just how big this project would become, now looking back I cannot believe everything I have been able to accomplish along with my teammates, mentors and teachers.
